I appreciate the guest post, Quinton Mathews
The exhilaration of running thrilled me as a young boy. I loved tying on my sneakers (no running shoes back then) and heading out to run in the street. I was never a track star, never fast enough to even make the track team. Those that did amazed me, and I guess it was then I learned that some of us are just made for running faster than others. That doesn’t mean I couldn’t simply get out and run though. I ran miles and miles, enjoying the outdoors and the feeling of being free.
Now I’m older; at the age where I can get a senior citizen discount. But I still feel young. I have always worked out, but hadn’t run in a long, long time. I decided I wanted to try it again. I bought a good pair of mo! dern running shoes, a far cry from those old flat sneakers. Locked up the house, set the home security alarm (ADT Pulse) and headed off to the park nearby. There on the few miles of packed gravel trails I started my running again.
Didn’t get too far the first time out, but it still was exhilarating and fun. I worked up to a comfortable 5K and then ran a few races. Great for you and makes your cares melt away.
I am getting older but I still love going running.
